XOXO: Conversation Heart Cookies
These cookies not only look festive but also allow you to express your feelings—just like traditional conversation hearts! Personalize your cookies with sweet messages and colors of your choice. Here’s how you can make them:

Ingredients:
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 3 to 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2-3 tablespoons of milk (for icing)
- Food coloring (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg, then stir in the vanilla and almond extracts.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, and mix until well combined.
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Use heart-shaped cookie cutters to cut out cookies and place them onto the prepared baking sheets.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden at the edges. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack.
- For the icing, in a mixing bowl, combine powdered sugar, milk, and food coloring until you reach your desired consistency.
- Once the cookies are cool, decorate them with icing and add your favorite sweet messages!
These XOXO Conversation Heart Cookies are not just a treat; they’re a heartfelt gift that can be shared with anyone you love! Enjoy the baking and have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
