Autumn spiced butternut squash bread –As the seasons shift and the leaves begin to turn, there’s nothing quite like the warm and comforting aroma of freshly baked bread filling the air. One of my favorite recipes for this time of year is the Autumn Spiced Butternut Squash Bread, which not only captures the essence of fall but also delights the taste buds with its rich flavors.
Autumn Spiced Butternut Squash Bread
This bread is the perfect treat for those chilly afternoons or holiday gatherings. Its moist texture combined with the delightful spices makes it an irresistible choice. Here’s how to make this seasonal favorite!

Ingredients:
- 1 cup of cooked and pureed butternut squash
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 3/4 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the butternut squash puree, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
- Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring just until combined. Be careful not to overmix!
- If you’re using nuts, fold them gently into the batter at this stage.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before removing it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Once it’s cooled, slice yourself a piece (or two) and enjoy this delightful bread with your favorite cup of tea or coffee. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate fall, and I promise it will quickly become a favorite in your kitchen as well. Happy baking!
