Buttermilk Biscuits
These biscuits are a classic addition to any Thanksgiving spread. They’re warm, flaky, and perfect for soaking up gravy or spreading with some butter and jam. Trust me, you won’t stop at just one!

Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Make sure it’s nice and hot to get those biscuits rising beautifully!
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Give it a good whisk to ensure everything is mixed well.
- Add the cold, cubed butter into the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. We want those buttery bits to create flaky layers!
- Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk. Stir gently until the dough begins to come together. Be careful not to overmix—this will keep our biscuits light and fluffy.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Knead it gently about 4 or 5 times until it’s smooth.
- Roll it out to about 1-inch thick and cut out biscuits using a floured biscuit cutter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown. Your kitchen will smell heavenly with that buttery aroma!
- Once they’re out of the oven, let them cool for a few minutes, then serve warm with butter, honey, or whatever your heart desires.
These buttermilk biscuits are sure to become a household favorite! So grab your loved ones, share some good vibes, and enjoy the food that brings everyone together. Happy feasting!
