Buttermilk seed bread –Today, I’m excited to share a delightful recipe that will elevate your baking game: Buttermilk Seed Bread. This bread is not only easy to make but brings a wonderful flavor and texture that will have everyone at the table asking for seconds! Let’s get started with the ingredients and instructions.
Buttermilk Seed Bread
This bread is enriched with the creamy goodness of buttermilk and the crunchiness of seeds, making it a fantastic addition to any meal. It’s perfect for sandwiches or simply enjoyed with a smear of butter.

Ingredients:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
- 1/4 cup sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, combine the buttermilk and honey, and then warm it slightly in the microwave until it’s lukewarm. Stir in the yeast and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough begins to form.
- Add the sunflower and sesame seeds to the dough, incorporating them well. If the dough feels too sticky, add a tablespoon of flour at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes, or until it’s smooth and elastic.
- Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl, turning the dough to coat it lightly with oil. Cover it with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- Once risen, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the dough to release the air and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Brush the top of the loaf with melted butter to encourage browning and flavor. Let it rise again for about 30 minutes, covered with the damp cloth.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
