Alright, now let’s dive into what you’ll need to make this delicious chili:

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs ground beef (or turkey, if you prefer)
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped (red or green)
  • 2 cans of diced tomatoes (15 oz each)
  • 1 can of kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can of black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can of corn, drained
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, sliced jalapeños

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat up some oil over medium heat. Add the onions, garlic, and bell pepper. Sauté until the veggies are soft and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the ground beef (or turkey) to the pot, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes.
  3. Once the meat is cooked through, stir in the chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Let those spices mingle for a minute or two.
  4. Next, pour in the diced tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, and corn. Stir everything together, making sure those flavors are combined.
  5. Bring it to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. The longer it simmers, the more flavorful it gets!
  6. Taste it and adjust the seasoning if needed. If you like it spicy, feel free to add some hot sauce or extra jalapeños.

When you’re ready to serve, ladle that piping hot chili into bowls and top it with your favorite toppings. Trust me, this Caveman Chili will have folks coming back for seconds, and maybe even thirds. Enjoy and happy cooking!
