Just look at that golden-brown perfection! This is what we’re aiming for!

Baklava with Puff Pastry Dough

Ingredients You’ll Need:

  • 1 package of puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 cups mixed nuts (like walnuts, pistachios, and almonds, chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions To Get You There:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine your chopped nuts and ground cinnamon. Set it aside.
  3. Roll out your puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut it into rectangles that will fit your baking pan.
  4. Brush the bottom of your pan with melted butter. Lay down a layer of puff pastry and brush it with more melted butter. Repeat this process with about 8 layers.
  5. Once you’ve laid down the first 8 layers, sprinkle a generous amount of the nut mixture over the pastry.
  6. Continue layering your puff pastry and nut mixture, aiming for about 4-5 layers of nuts between layers of pastry.
  7. Finish with about 8 more layers of puff pastry, brushing butter between each layer.
  8. Once you have your stack ready, cut it into diamond shapes using a sharp knife.
  9. Bake the Baklava in the oven for about 40-50 minutes, or until it’s golden brown and crispy.
  10. While that’s baking, prepare your syrup by boiling sugar, water, and honey together for about 10 minutes. Stir in the vanilla extract and let it cool.
  11. Once the Baklava is done baking, take it out and immediately drizzle the syrup over it. Let it sit and soak for a few hours before serving.

There you have it! This lovely Baklava is perfect for sharing or for keeping all to yourself (we won’t tell!). Serve it with a nice cup of tea or coffee, and watch those smiles light up the room. Enjoy!
