Ultimate Meat Lasagna

Ingredients:

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground sausage
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cans (15 ounces each) tomato sauce
  • 2 cans (6 ounces each) tomato paste
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato diced (with juices)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 container (15 ounces) ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Once cooked, drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, ground sausage, chopped onion, and minced garlic until the meats are browned and the onions are tender. Drain any excess grease.
  4. Add the tomato sauce, tomato paste, diced tomatoes, sugar, basil, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the Parmesan cheese until well combined.
  6. To assemble the lasagna, spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish. Layer 4 noodles on top, followed by half of the ricotta mixture, half of the mozzarella cheese, and a third of the meat sauce.
  7. Repeat the layers: noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and meat sauce. Finish with a final layer of noodles, meat sauce, mozzarella, and the remaining Parmesan cheese on top.
  8. Cover the dish with aluminum foil (avoid letting it touch the cheese) and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  9. Let the lasagna rest for 15 minutes before slicing and serving. This allows the layers to set, making it easier to cut.

Enjoy your delightful Ultimate Meat Lasagna, a dish sure to be the star of any meal!
