Ingredients

  • For the dough:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp dry yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • For the topping:
  • 1 cup finely chopped mushrooms
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup cooked lentils
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. First off, let’s make that dough! In a large bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it’s all frothy.
  2. Now, mix in the flour and salt, then knead it for about 10 minutes until you got a nice and smooth dough. Don’t forget to add that olive oil! Cover it with a cloth and let it rise for at least an hour, or until it doubles in size.
  3. While the dough is rising, let’s whip up the topping. In a skillet, heat a little olive oil and add the onions, cooking until they’re soft. Throw in those mushrooms, garlic, and bell peppers, cooking until everything is tender.
  4. Add the cooked lentils, tomato paste, smoked paprika, and cumin. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for another 5 minutes, letting those flavors blend together.
  5. Once the dough has risen, preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Roll out the dough into thin rounds on a floured surface.
  6. Spread a generous amount of the mushroom-lentil mixture on top of each dough round, creating a thin layer.
  7. Pop those babies in the oven for about 10-12 minutes, until the edges are crispy and golden.
  8. Finally, garnish with fresh parsley, slice them up and serve hot. Enjoy your Vegan Turkish pizza with friends and family—trust me, they won’t be able to resist!
