Spicy Cranberry Chutney
This chutney combines the tartness of cranberries with the warmth of spices, creating a perfect balance of flavors that will make your taste buds dance. It’s a fantastic addition to your holiday meals or any gathering!

Ingredients
- 12 oz fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the cranberries, sugar, apple cider vinegar, and onion. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 20 minutes, or until the cranberries have burst, and the sauce has thickened. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
- Add the grated ginger, spices (cinnamon, cloves, allspice, cumin, and red pepper flakes), and chopped walnuts if using. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
- Let the chutney simmer for an additional 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. If the mixture becomes too thick, you can add a splash of water to reach your desired consistency.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the chutney cool to room temperature. Taste and add salt as needed.
- Transfer the chutney to a jar or airtight container and refrigerate. It can be served immediately, but the flavor will deepen if allowed to sit for at least a few hours or overnight in the fridge.
This Spicy Cranberry Chutney is sure to impress your friends and family. Enjoy it as a side with your Thanksgiving turkey, a dip with cheese platters, or simply spread on a warm piece of bread. Bon appétit!
