Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 large eggs
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 4 ounces smoked salmon, chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- Fresh dill sprigs, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a medium saucepan, combine the water and butter. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the butter is melted.
- Once boiling, add the flour and salt all at once. Stir vigorously for about 2 minutes until the mixture forms a smooth ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
- Remove the pan from the heat and let it cool for a couple of minutes. Then, beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.
- Using a pastry bag or a spoon, drop tablespoon-sized mounds of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up. Make sure to let them cool completely.
- Meanwhile, prepare the filling by combining the softened cream cheese, chopped smoked salmon, dill, and lemon juice in a bowl. Mix until smooth and well combined.
- Once the puffs are cool, slice them in half and fill each with the cream cheese and salmon mixture.
- Garnish with fresh dill sprigs before serving. Enjoy!
