Fruit Scones!
These Fruit Scones are easy to make and oh-so-delicious. Ideal for impressing your friends and family, they come out golden and soft every time. You can enjoy them plain or with a dollop of jam and cream. Let’s gather our ingredients.

Ingredients:
- 225g (1 ¾ cups) self-raising flour
- 75g (⅓ cup) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 25g (2 tbsp) caster sugar
- 150g (1 cup) mixed dried fruit (such as raisins, currants, and sultanas)
- 150ml (⅔ cup) whole milk
- 1 egg, beaten (for brushing)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 220°C (428°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the self-raising flour and cold butter. Rub the butter into the flour using your fingertips until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
- Stir in the caster sugar and dried fruit, mixing until evenly distributed.
- Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the milk. Gently stir with a knife until it starts to come together into a dough.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently a couple of times until smooth. Be careful not to overwork the dough!
- Roll out the dough to about 2.5cm (1 inch) thick and use a round cutter to cut out your scones. Place the scones onto the prepared baking tray.
- Brush the tops of the scones with the beaten egg to give them a lovely golden color when baked.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until they’re well risen and golden brown.
- Once baked, let them cool slightly on a wire rack before digging in!
Now, enjoy your homemade fruit scones with a bit of butter or your favorite jam. These delightful treats will surely be a hit with your loved ones. Happy baking!
