Spiced Slow Cooker Applesauce

Make your kitchen smell amazing with this easy slow cooker recipe. Homemade applesauce is not only delicious but also a healthier alternative to store-bought versions. Plus, it’s incredibly versatile—you can use it on pancakes, oats, or even as a base for various desserts.

Spiced Slow Cooker Applesauce

Ingredients

  • 6 medium apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/4 cup of brown sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • Optional: Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Start by peeling, coring, and slicing the apples. The size doesn’t have to be perfect since they will break down during cooking.
  2. Place the apple slices into the slow cooker. Add the cup of water to help steam the apples.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Pour this mixture over the apples, making sure they are evenly coated. If you’re using salt, sprinkle it in at this stage as well.
  4. Cover the slow cooker with its lid, and set it to cook on low for about 6 to 8 hours. If you’re short on time, you can cook on high for about 3 to 4 hours.
  5. Once the cooking time is over, take a fork and gently mash the apples until you reach your desired consistency. If you prefer a smoother sauce, you can use an immersion blender.
  6. Allow the apple sauce to cool down a bit before serving. You can enjoy it warm, or store it in the fridge for later use.

This Spiced Slow Cooker Applesauce is a fantastic addition to your meal prep, and it makes a wonderful snack or side dish. You can also can it if you want to enjoy it throughout the year! I hope you enjoy making and savoring this cozy treat as much as I do.
