Super Easy Polish Cabbage Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 1 head of cabbage
  • 1 pound ground beef or pork
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup beef broth

Instructions:

  1. Start by boiling a large pot of water. Carefully remove the core from the cabbage and submerge the whole head in boiling water for about 2-3 minutes or until the leaves are tender. Remove the cabbage and let it cool.
  2. Once cooled, gently separate the leaves. Set aside 10-12 large leaves for rolling, and chop the remaining leaves for use in the filling.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté the chopped onion until translucent. Incorporate the chopped cabbage and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, combine ground meat, cooked rice, sautéed onion and chopped cabbage, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together until well combined.
  5. Take a cabbage leaf, place a generous spoonful of the meat mixture at the stem end, and roll it tightly, folding in the sides as you go. Repeat with the remaining leaves and filling.
  6. Place the cabbage rolls seam-side down in a baking dish. Pour the tomato sauce and beef broth over the rolls.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 1 hour, or until the meat is cooked through.

Once the rolls are done, serve them hot right from the oven. Pair them with a dollop of sour cream, some crusty bread, or a fresh salad on the side, and enjoy this comforting meal with your loved ones!
