Ingredients:
- 1 block of firm tofu, pressed and sliced
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup nutritional yeast (for a cheesy flavor)
- 2 cups of marinara sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese or vegan cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a shallow bowl, set up your dredging station. Place the flour in one bowl, add the breadcrumbs mixed with 1/2 cup nutritional yeast in another, and season them with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Take the pressed tofu slices and dip each piece into the flour, coating both sides. Then, transfer the tofu to the breading station, pressing gently to adhere the breadcrumb mixture.
